This hand-painted piece brings the Christmas story to life in a folding cathedral arch display. Unfold it and you have Mary kneeling beside the manger, Joseph standing in prayer, a young shepherd holding his lamb, and an angel in golden robes watching over them all — all set against a hand-painted Bethlehem skyline under a star-scattered sky.

The pointed Gothic arches give it the feel of a cathedral altarpiece shrunk to mantel size. The three panels are hinged, so you can adjust the angle to fit your shelf or table. Fold it flat when the season ends and it stores in a drawer or box with no risk of losing a single figure.

At the base, two metal-lined wells wait for tealights. Light them on Christmas Eve and the glow rises behind the figures, turning painted resin into something that feels alive. (Tealights are not included — any standard size fits.)

Each panel is painted by hand. Look closely and you'll find the texture of straw in the manger, the soft folds of the shepherd's tunic, and the individual feathers on the angel's wings. The gold stars on the blue background are placed one at a time, not stamped.

Does this include candles?

No, candles are not included. The base has two built-in metal tealight holders that fit any standard tealight candle (approx. 1.5″ diameter). We recommend LED tealights if you plan to leave them lit unattended, especially around children or pets.

Is this a Holy Family figurine or a nativity set?

It's both, in a way. Unlike our standalone Holy Family figurines, this piece includes additional figures — a shepherd and an angel — making it a complete nativity scene. But unlike a traditional nativity set with loose pieces, everything is sculpted into one folding display. It's ideal if you want the full story without the setup.

Can this be hung on a wall, or is it tabletop only?

This is designed for tabletop or shelf display. The panels fold to stand on their own weighted base and are not equipped with wall-mounting hardware. The low profile makes it perfect for narrow mantels, window sills, and side tables.

How wide is it when fully opened?

When the three panels are fully opened for display, the width is approximately 10 inches (25 cm). You can adjust the angle narrower if your shelf space is limited — the hinged panels let you find the right fit.

Is it safe to use real candles in the holders?

The holders are metal-lined and can accommodate real tealights. However, as with any candle, never leave them burning unattended, and keep the flame away from the resin panels. For worry-free use — especially in homes with children or pets — LED tealights are an excellent alternative and create the same warm glow.

Can I display this year-round, or is it only for Christmas?

Many customers do keep it out all year, especially in a prayer corner or on a devotional shelf. The cathedral arch framing and candle holder function give it a timeless quality that doesn't feel strictly seasonal. That said, it folds flat for easy storage if you prefer to pack it away after Epiphany.
